The CrossFit group classes are the backbone of what we do at CrossFit Saraland. In a small group setting, you will be led through a warm-up, strength or skill work and "WOD" or workout of the day. You will receive instruction from a CrossFit certified trainer and will constantly be observed to ensure that you are performing all movements in a safe and efficient manner.
Our workouts are a combination of three main exercise formats - weightlifting (olypmic lifting movements such as the deadlift, clean and jerk), gymnastics (body-weight movements such as pushups and pullups, not backflips), and cardio (running, rowing, jumprope, etc). On some days, the WOD will be a 10-20 minute metabolic conditioning workout that combines several movements or exercises that are grouped into sets and either completed for time or in as many rounds a possible (“AMRAP”). On other days, the class will focus on a strength piece (like a 1 rep max deadlift) followed by a shorter metabolic conditioning “finisher” workout. Every day it will challenge you and bring you one step closer to achieving your fitness goals.
Our workouts are also infinitely scaleable meaning that new athletes can workout alongside veteran athletes. Volume, weight, and intensity can all be adjusted to meet your current level of fitness. The workouts are tough, but keep in mind that all posted WOD’s are at the prescribed level, and anyone who is new to CrossFit will start off with scaled workouts
We utilize a program called Wodify to allow our athletes to record their workout times/scores and track their progress on our Whiteboard.
